06/11/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/11/16 10:52 Basic Info: Royal A1077038 is a 1yr 4month old male light brown brindle & white AMPBT/Boxer mix who was bought off of someone selling puppies at 7wks old and is being surrendered along due to allergies. He was last seen by a veterinarian in 2015 and currently has no known health issues/injuries. Socialization: Around strangers Royal is shy for a few minutes or friendly/outgoing (depends on the person/their vibe). He’s lived with children ages 4, 5, 9 & 15yrs and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful with them also the adults in the home. Royal has spent time with a Beagle that is too high energy for him and he’s afraid of. Royal has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. Behavior: Royal isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed, bath time (loves the water) or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. He hasn’t had his nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Royal will bark to alert you. For A New Family to Know: Royal is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow (at times) & independent with a medium-high activity level. He enjoys sleeping & playing. Royal enjoys ball, rope, stuffed, chew toys and games of fetch, chase, wrestling & tug. He’s a mostly indoor only dog who sleeps with the owner & is walked 1-3x a day where he pulls on his leash at times. Royal eats dry Pedigree dog food 2x a day. He will have accidents in the home if someone takes too long to take him out. When left home alone Royal is placed in a crate (during work hours/errands). Intake Behavior: Royal allowed all handling and had a relaxed body. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of including positioning him during his photo session. Royal was then asked to go into the kennel which he did.
06/14/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Our royal and regal Mr. Royal joins us with the outstanding resume of a family dog. He lived with several young children with whom he was gentle, relaxed and playful, spent time with a high energy Beagle he was afraid of, loves water and baths, doesn’t guard his stuff, loves toys, playing fetch and tug, is crate trained, slept with his owner, is housetrained when walked regularly. We’re told that Royal can be a bit shy for a few minutes with new people, or friendly and outgoing depending on the “vibe” he picks up. We became friends immediately, Royal happy to be out to go potty and show off his nice leash manners. He’s so handsome and elegant in his stunning brindle coat and beautiful markings. His coat is as soft as velvet, his face smart, alert, curious and sweet. He’s quiet, sits when asked to, takes treats gently, and when I tell him he’s a good boy, or just start a general conversation about how nice the weather is, he wags his tail and looks at me as if in complete agreement with whatever I’m saying! Royal and I stop for some hugs and kisses and if he hadn’t quite won all my heart, he sure captured it then. Royal ignores other dogs we pass on our walk, and in playgroup he greets politely and enjoys some soft play with the female greeter. Royal is royalty indeed, and is looking for a new family to love. Our behavior team was so impressed with his behavior they think Royal will do well with a person with average dog experience. He’s truly a terrific dog with outstanding credentials waiting to meet you. Do it today.
06/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Royal came into our center as an owner surrender citing children in the home developing allergies. It is reported he lived with children ages 4,5,9, 15-gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful. Owner reports Royal has spent time in the company of a high energy beagle, but Royal is mostly afraid of him. Owner states Royal isn’t bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats. He is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow at times, and independent, loves the water and bath time. During intake, Royal allowed all handling with relaxed body, went into kennel easily when asked to. Owner reports Royal is used to being crated during the work hours of the day when owner was not home. Royal held gaze during Look item, lip lick, body soft. He stood still during Sensitivity item, instantly alert when first touched, ears went back. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, became slightly playful mid game. Royal gently pulled back his paw on both Squeeze attempts. Royal kept a firm grip on Toy with his paw, body loose. Owner reports Royal enjoys ball, rope, stuffed, chew toys, and games of fetch, chase, wrestling, and tug. When introduced to another dog, Royal’s eyes became wide, tail above spine level, approached a bit quickly. The Behavior Team feels Royal would do best with an Average adopter. He may benefit initially from a slow approach/slow introduction, possibly with treats, so he can relax and warm up at his own pace, as owner reports he may be shy at first with meeting new people. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, mouth closed, ears back Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, playful mid-game Squeeze 1 / 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog keeps a firm grip with his paw, body loose Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.
