A volunteer writes:
Elegant Roxy is with us as her family was the victim of a   fire. Her owner commented nicely about her and we learned that Roxy likes children and is welcoming of strangers. She would not be too comfortable with other dogs. Roxy has been remarkably well cared for and it is almost hard to believe that she is 15 year old. She has a great weight, is dressed in a lush, intact and well groomed chestnut color coat with lovely markings and walks calmly by my side, eliminating on the way. Roxy is pretty lost at the care center. We have had quite a number of “sessions ” together and somehow,  she has “gotten used” to me. Roxy is most often resting in her den but comes to her door when she sees me.  She comes when I call her but does not sit yet or takes treats. She looks at me with such huge eyes that seem to say…What am I doing here? Help me, please….She is very sensitive to touch and particularly  around the head. We have been working on this and Roxy accepts now my hand much more easily. Although she does not bump into things, i believe that  Roxy is a tad visually impaired. Well, this is not unusual at such advanced age..Roxy grew strong into my heart. Apparently aloof, she is not. She knows her friends. She is so trying to keep afloat and I have so much respect for her.  I hope that soon enough Roxy will find her way to a home sweet home and enjoy the love of a master. We can only dream. Roxy is at the Manhattan Care Center.

If you are local to the Tri-State, New England, and the general Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please read our MUST READ section for instructions, or email helpdogs@urgentpodr.org. Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process.

* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
