02/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Roxy previously lived with 1 adult, 6 other dogs and has been exposed to children with limited interaction. The owner stated Roxy is not very social with people and other animals; she was also kept in her cage for long hours of the day. The owner mentioned Roxy is house trained and has a medium activity level. It was reported by the owner Roxy has a previous bite history where she killed 3 possums that was wondering around the yard a month ago. The owner also stated Roxy has a previous bite history pattern of biting people around her but none of these bites have broken skin or did any damage. At intake it was reported Roxy was timid and nervous, all handling was conducted by the owner. During SAFER Roxy came into the assessment room nervous and timid, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Roxy bit the assessor on the thumb (but didn’t break skin) on Look item. She displayed no interest in the toy item during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with New Hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog bites the assessor. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: Roxy appears much looser today while being handled and entering the pen. She approaches the gate to greet but stops a few feet back from the other dog, lowers her head and raises her paw. The pen was opened for her and the greeter dog was kept on lead to allow her the opportunity to approach if she felt comfortable. Roxy did enter the pen and wander around exploring the yard. At one point she approached the greeter dog within a foot but turned and walked away.
01/31/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION

When off leash with other dogs, Roxy is clearly very uncomfortable and nervous. She moves in a very slow manner with excessive lip licking and constant paw raising. The helper dog was kept at a 3 foot distance to allow Roxy to approach if she felt comfortable enough to do so. Roxy did not greet the dog or interact in any way, or really move. 2/01 update: Roxy appears much looser today while being handled and entering the pen. She approaches the gate to greet but stops a few feet back from the other dog, lowers her head and raises her paw. The pen was opened for her and the greeter dog was kept on lead to allow her the opportunity to approach if she felt comfortable. Roxy did enter the pen and wander around exploring the yard.
