Medical Summary Estimated age: 8 yrs. Microchip noted on Intake? No. Stray dog, concerns that she may be injured. Calm, quiet, very friendly and social. Allows all handling. BARH. mm=pink, moist, CRT<2 s. HR=88, RR=20. BCS=5/9. ORAL: Mild to mod. calculus, gingivitis. EENT: No oculonasal discharge, no sneezing. AU – marked canal stenosis, lichenification, tan/brown discharge. Unable to visualize typmanum due to degree of canal swelling and stenosis. Ears not painful but very pruritic. PLN: No enlargements noted. H/L: Lungs clear, no murmurs/arrhythmias. ABD: Non painful, no masses/organomegaly palpated. U/G: Female. Mod. vulvar enlargement, no discharge. Large scar visible and palpable on midline of ventral abdomen. MS: Ambulatory x 4, no lameness. INTEG: All 4 paws – dorsal interdigital spaces are moist, erythematous, mild brown debris. Cystic lesion R. fore between digit 4-5. Vental abdomen – marked erythema, mild moidture, papules and pustules. All nipples are large, mildly lichenified. No mammary masses palpable. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities. A: Approx 8 yr old bulldog mix with severe, chronic otitis externa, superficial pyoderma, interdigital dermatitis +/- malassezia dermatitis. Scar on abdomen could be and OVH scar vs from abdominal exploratory or c-section. Will consider dog unspayed for now as physical appearance is otherwise that of an unspayed female who has had multiple litters. P: Ear cleaning AU, apply Osurnia AU. Repeat in one week. Rx Cephalexin 500 mg. 1 PO BID x 28 days. Rx Ketoconazole 200 mg. 0.5 tab PO q 24 hours x 14 days. Good prognosis with appropriate management. Permanant waiver from OVH surgery due to age.
