I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 01/19/2016 from NY 11212, owner surrender reason stated was NO TIME.

01/19/16 17:50 Basic Information: Roscoe is a year and six month old tan and white male American Staffordshire terrier. He was surrendered by his owner due to him not having the time to care for him. He is described as energetic, playful, and friendly. Socialization: Roscoe has lived with one adult and has not been around cats. Owner stated he is tolerant around children and dogs outside when at a distance but when they get closer Roscoe’s body will tense and hair will raise. Behavior: Roscoe is friendly when bathed and allows brushing. When someone unfamiliar approaches his home he will bark and jump and sniff when the visitor enters the home. He is not bothered when a stranger approaches his owner or family. For a new family to know: Roscoe has a high activity level owner stated he brought him several toys but he destroyed them all. When home Roscoe can be found in his favorite spot. He is mostly housetrained and was walked twice a day. He is used to leashed walks and owner stated he will pull hard while on leash. He has been kept only indoors and owner stated he has been crate trained and wil whine and cry while in the crate. Owner stated he is fed wet food and is free fed. Roscoe knows the commands sit and lay down. Owner stated he will do well in a experienced home where he can recieve alot of attention. Upon intake Roscoe was energetic and pulled while on leash, he allowed all handling. Counselor was able to scan (negative), collar and photograph.

How can anyone say no to a wonderful grin like that? Roscoe is a friendly and playful little goofball that is just waiting for a new family to love. Roscoe is a bundle of energy who would be a perfect companion for all sorts of outdoor adventures. Come on down to the Brooklyn care center to meet this lovely guy for yourself.

Roscoe previously lived with one adult and has been around children. The owner stated Roscoe is tolerant around children. The owner mentioned when Roscoe is around other dogs outside and when they get closer Roscoe’s body will tense and hair will raise. It was reported by the owner Roscoe is house trained, crate trained and has a high activity level. The owner stated Roscoe will destroy his toys. At intake it was reported Roscoe was energetic and allowed all handling. During SAFER Roscoe came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Roscoe was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Roscoe was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Roscoe appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. When off leash with other dogs, Roscoe greets the other dog with high energy and a stiff posture. He does not solicit play and is primarily sexually motivated. The behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter and a thorough dog to dog interaction before place into a permanent home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Roscoe greets the other dog with high energy and a stiff posture. He does not solicit play and is primarily sexually motivated.
