03/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rookie came into our center as an owner surrender on 3/4/2016. It is reported he has lived with children ages 8-17, gentle, playful, and respectful, but may sometimes play rough. Owner states Rookie has spent time with an 8 month old pitbull, playful. It is reported Rookie isn’t bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats while eating. Owner states Rookie is not fully housebroken and will go on wee wee pads as well as cement and grass outside. During intake Rookie allowed all handling. He pulled slightly on leash during his relief walk. Rookie was friendly upon entering SAFER assessment room, barked to solicit attention. Rookie allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during look item, relaxed. He stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, lip lick, ears neutral. He was distracted and unresponsive during Tag game, did not approach at the end, focused on other stimuli. Rookie did not pull his paw back on first Squeeze attempt, but moved his legs and body away on second attempt. He showed no interest in Toy, though this may be environmental as owner reports he likes to play with bones and play tug. Rookie approached the helper dog with tail well above spine level, lip lick, body a bit tense. The Behavior Team feels Rookie would do best with an Experienced adopter. He may benefit from being the only resident dog and introduced to other dogs slowly. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, lip lick, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, mouth closed, lip lick. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor. He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are back. Squeeze 2: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward, lip lick.
03/08/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
