12/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Like her namesake, Rogue is a woman of mystery and intrigue. She loves to explore every square inch of her environment–in fact, on our last walk she had me dizzy from spinning around in circles to follow her around! Although she zigzags a lot to make sure she doesn’t miss anything, Rogue doesn’t pull on the leash, and checks in with me all the time on our walks. Her tail is perpetually wagging, and whenever we sit down to take a break, she climbs onto my lap (as best she can, she’s not a tiny dog!) and gives me lots of kisses. Rogue seems to be housetrained and is a sweet, happy, affectionate girl. Come and see her at the Brooklyn ACC — you might end up bringing home your own superhero!
12/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/13/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (need coaxing to approach.) She is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1& 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Rogue displayed no concern during her behavioral assessment, she remained friendly and social towards the assessor. PLAYGROUP: Rogue came into the Care Center as a stray so her previous behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Rogue engages in high energy play with male and female dogs. She continually solicits play, requiring handler interruptions to take appropriate play breaks. With further playgroup sessions, she is able to take appropriate play breaks. The Behavior Department recommends that Rogue be placed in a home with dogs that match and are tolerant of her high energy play style. A dog-dog interaction should be conducted with a resident dog to ensure compatibility. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 12/13/16 During her medical examination, Rogue was attention seeking and allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
