He is not bothered when someone takes away his food, treats or toys, being pushed off furniture, being held/restrained, being disturbed when sleeping, or having his coat brushed. When someone tries to trim Roger’s nails, he will growl and try to run away. For a New Family to Know: Roger is described as friendly ,affectionate and mellow. He has a low activity level and likes to play with rubber toys, balls and chew toys. In the home, he would usually stay in his favorite spot and lounge around. In the home, Roger was fed dry food only brand Blue Buffalo. When left alone in the home, Roger was always well behaved. Owner did not have a yard so his behavior is unknown. When owner tried to crate train Roger, he would try to get out of the crate and whine the whole time. Roger knows the cues sit, and stay. Potential challenges: _X_Handling/touch sensitivity: Roger has growled and snapped when his paw were handled for a nail trim (per “KNOWN HISTORY”, showing an uncomfortability with touch in certain areas. It is important to avoid touching Roger’s paws at this time and being cautious when touching him in other areas as we do not know where he may have other sensitivities. Positive reinforcement, reward based training should be used to pair touch with good things such as food rewards in order to teach Roger to be more comfortable with this _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Roger has snapped during his stay in our care centers when uncomfortable; guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is recommended to assess behavior after decompression in a new home environment.
