01/28/17 20:38 Basic Information Rocky Road is a 1 year old male American Pit Bull Terrier. He was brought in by the police due to biting his owner. Owner adopted him from a friend when Rocky Road was 1 month old. Owner stated he has no medical issues and last saw a vet 6 months ago for vaccinations. Socialization Rocky Road is shy for a few minutes around strangers. After a little while he will begin to mount the strangers. He lived with kid’s ages 7, 10, and 12. Owner stated he is playful around the kids and is very tolerant of them. He plays in an exuberant manner with kids and adults. He has been around dogs of all sizes in dog runs. He plays in an exuberant manner with them and tries to mount often. He lived with a cat. He would try to approach the cat even when the cat would scratch him. He has never bitten an animal. He bit his owner on the arm after the owner touched his favorite bone. This was the only time Rocky Road has ever bitten a person. Behavior Owner stated Rocky Road likes to chew on things if he does not have a toy. He is not bothered by loud or sudden noises. He does not guard food or toys. Owner stated he guards his large rawhide bone and will growl and bite. Owner stated his wife can touch the bone but he cannot. He tolerates all sorts of handling. He will bark if someone knocks on the door but is not bothered if someone unfamiliar approaches his owner. For a New Family to Know Rocky Road is described as friendly, affectionate, and playful with a very high activity level. He will follow his owner around when home. He likes to play with stuffed, squeaky, and chew style toys. He likes to play chase and tug. He was kept mostly indoors and slept in his own bed. He was fed Purina Beniful dry dog food. Owner filled up a large bowl twice a day. He is house trained and will potty anywhere outside. He is never left home alone. He is well behaved when left in a yard alone. He will not stop barking if you crate him, owner stated he will never stop barking. He knows the command sit. Owner takes him on brisk walks for exercise. He does not pull the owner but pulls other people when walked. He is never walked off the leash. Behavior during Intake Rocky Road tolerated all handling. I was able to collar him, pet him, and scan him without any issues. No signs of aggression were displayed.

We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
