GONE 01/25/17

Brooklyn Center

My name is ROCKY. My Animal ID # is A1101849.
I am a male brown and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR

I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 01/20/2017 from NY 11375, owner surrender reason stated was BITEPEOPLE.

MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT
01/24/2017 Exam Type BEHAVIORPART2 – Medical Rating is 3 C – MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is NH ONLY, Weight 53.6 LBS.

Potential challenges: _X_Resource guarding: Rocky’s previous owner notes that he growls and may snap when his food bowl is approached. This behavior has also been noted in the care center. We recommend that Rocky be left along while eating, and that food guarding behavior modification steps (available at ASPCApro.org) be utilized if this behavior is problematic in his future home. Nothing should ever be taken directly out of Rocky’s mouth, and any time something is removed he should be rewarded with a high value treat or toy. He should be taught the “drop” cue and trade-up games. _X_Multiple-bite history/risk of future aggression: We recommend only force-free, reward-based training methods for Rocky, as more aversive techniques are likely to increase fear and increase the risk of future aggression and additional bites.
