12/13/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My conversation with staff yesterday: Me: I love Rocky, what a great dog. Staff: I love Rocky, too. Me: I love Rocky more. Staff: I don’t think so, I love Rocky more than that! We could have done that all day :). Rocky is an awesome dog, surrendered to our care when his person ran into some difficulty. We’re told he’s friendly towards strangers, doesn’t guard his things, is housetrained, knows ‘sit’, ‘come’, and ‘lay down’, and doesn’t like his crate. Waiting patiently for his walk, I fell in love with Rocky from the moment I saw him. There is a sweetness and vulnerability in his face that I connected with immediately. Leashed easily, he showed off his housetraining skills the moment we were out the door, and while he pulled at first, we eventually settled into a good rhythm. Checking up constantly as we walk, I can see the questions on his soft face: ‘how am I doing?’, ‘do you like me?’, it’s sort of damp out isn’t it?’, ‘if I tell you a secret will you tell me one?’. He’s a lovely conversationalist! Rocky poses for photos like a pro both on leash and off, takes treats super gently after his sit, and leaned into me for petting, so happy to be stroked and have his ears rubbed. His tail never stops wagging, he gently played with some toys and it’s easy to see the playful personality beneath the mushy schmushy surface. Absolutely gorgeous inside and out, Rocky is hoping that his new person or family finds him today. And when you do, lucky adopter, I’ll happily listen to you say, “I love him most”.
