04/14/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rocky came into our center after a member of the public found him as a stray. Finder kept him for two days until Rocky and the resident dog got into an altercation, no further information was given. Upon intake, Rocky was friendly and allowed all handling. Rocky pulled hard on leash for his relief walk. Rocky was very frenetic upon entering the SAFER assessment area, at one point jumping up to bite the material on the side of the assessment location. He began barking and jumping at any quick movement, including assessor’s arm. Due to this behavior the tactile portions of the assessment were skipped. Rocky grabbed Toy quickly but lost interest and grabbed something else in the room to mouth, pulling things down, jumping up on chairs. He approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail at spine level, not stiff. Due to his concerning behavior in regards to high prey drive, the Behavior Team feels Rocky must be placed with a New Hope partner who can further modify these behaviors in a home environment. Toy: 3. Minimal interest in Toy, grabbed it quickly, but lost interest and started searching the room for other things to mouth/grab Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
