I am a male white and tricolor shih tzu mix. The shelter thinks I am about 3 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 01/02/2016 from NY 10035, owner surrender reason stated was CHILDCONFL.

01/02/16 16:42 Basic Information Rocko was brought in as an owner’s surrender. Owner has had Rocko since he was just a small puppy. Owner has Rocko does not have any injuries or health concerns, and when asked what she likes most about him owner chose how loyal and friendly he is. Personality & Behavior Rocko is described as playful, confident, and affectionate with a medium activity level. Rocko lived with children ages 12, 8, and two months. Rocko also lived with another Shih Tzu and owner says the two were very tolerant and friendly with each other. Rocko is trained using wee-wee pads. Owner notes that since they’ve had the baby Rocko has begun missing the wee-wee pad a few times per week. Rocko has been kept mostly indoors, owner notes that he does not go outside often. According to owner there have been no past issues of Rocko biting anyone or another animal. Owner says Rocko is friendly if food is touched, and will normally just follow wherever the bowl is. Owner also says Rocko allows him to remove food from his mouth and touch his toys. Rocko is friendly when told to get off of furniture and is unbothered when getting baths, and is said to be unbothered with nail trims. Rocko is friendly when someone unfamiliar approaches both the home and his owner. For a New Family to Know Rocko enjoys squeaky toys, and normally follows his owner around when home. When left home alone owner says Rocko sometimes uses the bathroom in the home. Rocko was fed Ceasers and Beneful wet food, and normally sleeps in his owner’s room. Behavior during Intake Rocko was friendly during intake. He came to counselor when summoned, and allowed counselor to pick him up for photos. Rocko allowed all handling, and showed no signs of aggression during intake.

Rocko was uncomfortable with handling; he wrinkles his muzzle to expose his front teeth during the look. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources was not interested in toys. Rocko was brought in as an owner’s surrender. His previous owner described him as a playful, confident, and affectionate with a medium activity level. Rocko lived with children ages 12, 8, and two months. Rocko also lived with another Shih Tzu and owner says the two were very tolerant and friendly with each other. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home.
