I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 10/22/2016 from NY 10454, owner surrender reason stated was NYCHA BAN.

10/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rocco has remained difficult to remove from his kennel baring teeth, growling, charging the door and lunging at the rope. Rocco has displayed no social behavior and once out of the kennel he stands tall and makes direct eye contact. Rocco growls loudly, exposes his front teeth, grabs at the leash and prepares to lunge forward at the handler. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Rocco is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can safely manage him as well as follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Force-free, reward based training is advised. 11/1 update: Rocco has shown some improvement with his consistent caretakers, allowing himself to be leashed, walked, and even at times pet. He has been reported to solicit attention with one caretaker. However, Rocco is still wary with new people and he continues to display behavior that makes him inappropriate for off-leash playgroup or for a SAFER handling assessment at the care center.
