08/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Rio came into the shelter as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Behavior during intake: Rio was friendly and allowed all handling; he was described as affectionate. During SAFER Rio was relaxed when he came into the assessment room he had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, he allowed all handling items to be conducted while maintaining a fearful body posture. Rio was tense during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Rio was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Rio appears to be sociable, but was fearful, and kept a tense body posture throughout the assessment, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Experienced” adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense and fearful; his tail is low and not moving, and trembles. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with tense body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 2. Dog is fearful but unresponsive. Squeeze 1: 1 Dog gently pulls back his paw. Flank squeeze 1: 2 Dog fearful body posture trembles. Toy 1: No interest. Playgroup:When off leash at the Care Center, Rio greets briefly with a low posture and becomes extremely sexually motivated. He does not respond to interruptions by handlers nor does he read the females body language.
