If Ricky is sleeping and someone disturbs him, he might snap. For a New Family to Know: Ricky is described as friendly with a medium activity level. When in the home, Ricky loves to follow the owner around. He was kept mostly indoors and is somewhat house trained. Owner stated that Ricky had accidents a few times a week. When Ricky was left home alone, he was well behaved. Ricky is also well behaved when left alone in the backyard. For exercise, owner would let Ricky run around in her backyard. When on leash, Ricky pulls lightly. Owner stated if taken off leash, he will try to run away as he can be an escape artist. His favorite toys are bones/chew toys and stuffed animals. When it comes to food, Ricky was fed both wet and dry but owner did not specify the brand. Owner feels that Ricky would do great in any type of home especially one with kids.

05/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ricky came into our center as an owner surrender along with another Chihuahua citing moving issues. It is reported he has been around children ages 6,9, and 13, very relaxed and playful. Owner reports Ricky also lived with a cat, gentle. It is reported Ricky is not bothered if anyone touches his Food, Toys, Treats. It is reported Ricky does not like his feet touched and will try to bite when someone touches them. If Ricky is sleeping and someone disturbs him, he might snap. Ricky was friendly and sociable upon entering the SAFER assessment area. He allowed his head to be cupped in assessor’s hands, relaxed. Ricky stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, mouth closed, ears neutral. He did not follow at the end of the leash for Tag game, but had no response to each pass. Ricky pulled his paw back on first Squeeze attempt, did not pull back on second attempt. He showed minimal interest in Toy, though this may be due to environment as owner reports his favorite toys are bones/chew toys and stuffed animals. Ricky did not approach the helper dog, turned to exit. Due to the owner’s comments of Ricky trying to bite if his paws are touched he may snap when someone disturbs him from sleeping, we recommend an experienced adopter with no children. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, mouth closed, ears neutral Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, does not follow at end of leash Food: 1. Minimal interest in food, sniffs, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2.
