I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/16/2016 from NY 11369, owner surrender reason stated was OWN EVICT. I came in with Group/Litter #K16-061771.

06/16/16 19:12 Basic info Rex A1077758 is a 7 year old dog that was surrendered because the previous owner is being evicted from his home. Rex is a very friendly dog. Rex has never suffered any health issues or injuries. Rex has been to the vet about 6 months ago. Socialization Rex is a great dog. With strangers Rex is relaxed and super friendly. he loves head rubs so he will walk up to stranger for one. Rex has lived with another large dog for the past 6 ½ years. Rex slept and ate with the other dog, however when rex see’s other dogs he doesn’t know he will stop and look and then keep walking. Rex tends to bark at smaller dogs. Ruby has also been around children ages 7 and up. Behavior Rex is a very trained and well behaved dog. Rex has never bitten anyone or animal. Client stated rex hasn’t even growled ever. Rex is good with baths and brushing. Rex allows his food and toys to be taken away with no issue. Rex is house trained and uses newspaper to pee and poop while in the home. Rex is also crate trained. When Rex is left in the home he like to sleep in the bathroom. For a new family to know Rex is loving and affectionate dog. Rex would be great in a family home. Rex has a high activity level. Rex loves all toys and like playing tug. Rex eats Harpo dry food and once in a while the previous owner treated her with humane food such as chicken and liver. Rex does pull on the leash slightly when he gets excited. Rex loves to steal socks and hide them. Behavior Upon Intake: Rex was super approachable and friendly upon intake. Rex allowed to be rubbed. Rex previously lived with adults and children ages 7 years old and up. The owner stated Rex is friendly and relaxed around strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Rex lived with another large dog and did multiple activities together. It was reported by the owner Rex is house trained, wee-wee pad trained, crate trained and has a high activity level. According to the owner Rex is loving and affectionate. At intake it was reported Rex was very friendly and allowed all handling. During SAFER Rex came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was very friendly and social towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Rex was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Rex was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Rex appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit tense, his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play ends. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest.
06/19/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE

Rex’s previous owner reported that he has lived with another dog for 6 years with no issues. When off leash at the Care Center, Rex was initially sexually motivated but with further playgroup sessions that behavior has decreased. He will engage in gentle play and correct for high energy, mouthy play and continue to engage in gentler play. He is utilized as a greeter dogs and meets new dogs with soft body language. He was tolerant of persistently playful dogs and anxious dogs, but will eventually offer correction for high energy play. When introduced to a dog that was uncomfortable, barking and growling at him, his initial reaction was remove himself from the situation. **Social Greeter Dog** 6/19: Rex greets with a tense body but soft face. He enters the pen and immediately becomes sexually motivated- attempting to mount but he is corrected by the female helper. Rex however ceases his behavior, but only for a few moments and attempts again. He is also persistent after human interruptions. 6/23-6/24: Rex displays bouncy body language as he greets the female dog. Initially he wandered in the pen. As the session continued, he became playful, soliciting and engaging in gentle play. He will correct for high energy, mouthy play and continue to engage in gentler play. 6/25- 6/27: Rex was utilized as a greeter dog today. He met new female dogs with soft body language. He was tolerant of persistently playful dogs and anxious dogs, but eventually corrected high energy play. When introduced to a dog that was uncomfortable, barking and growling at him, his initial reaction was remove himself from the situation. 6/29: Rex wandered in the pen in a group of males and females, displaying soft body language throughout the interaction.
