Helper Dog:A1024957 Rex was brought as a stray surrender so his past behavior in a home is unknown. Due to his medical condition at the time of SAFER “paw handling” and the “tag item” were not tested. Upon entry to the assessment room Rex was a bit fearful and his body was tense, but he remained close to the assessor and allowed all handling without issue. He was not interested in the food and rawhide items, and only showed minimal interest in the toys. During the dog-dog interaction, Rex had a relaxed body posture, and appeared interested in interacting with the helper dog. An experienced adopter is recommended along with a slow introduction that will allow Rex to feel more comfortable when being introduced into his new home, and time to adjust to his new family at his own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is a bit tense and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Food: No interest Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog smells, then turns away. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.

Radiogrpahs were not performed yesterday due to new machine pending further testing. No radiographs can be taken until further notice. Patient is BARH this morning, continues to have strong appetite. Able to perform exam in cage. Still NWB on left forelimb, but wags tail and allows handling. Willingly gets up when cage door opens mm = pink, moist, CRT < 2 sec HR = nma, nsr Lungs = clear/sniffing Abrasion over OS, on chin/lower lip, and below nasal planum are healed. P: 1. Continue current treatment plan Prognosis = GOOD
