02/27/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/27/16 19:44 Behavior during intake: This dog was a little nervous to start the intake process. She was hesitant to let me pet her on the head. I sat on the floor with her and she came closer after a few seconds. Her tail wagging she tried to lick my face. She sits and stays on command. She allowed me to collar her and take her photo with no issue.
03/01/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: You would have to be a paparazzi to take a good picture of Reina. Indeed, when she sees the lens of a camera, her smile vanishes and she literally runs away. She has not realized yet that a smart phone can capture her too. Who does not love Reina? She is a real Sunshine, a delicious chocolate and butterscotch gal who gently and in a ladylike manner welcomes people and dogs alike. Her tail wags when she sees a human face and she is quick to come to the chest for hugs and kisses. Nothing overwhelming. She has such soft manners. In playgroups with other pooches, she is dainty, friendly and very much liked of course by older chaps who do not want to deal with boisterous youngsters. She is a great “bench girl” who withdraws as soon as she sees my camera. “Cuddling is private, Ms. Volunteer”. I just had a glimpse of her kissing me with my iPhone. She kisses galore when she does not know she is being watched. Not nice to trick people or dogs but I had to. Reina is a great walker, most likely very much house trained and civil to small and big dogs we are passing by. She does not chase pigeons. She sits very nicely on command and comes at once at the call of her given name. Reina is certainly not a backyard dog. She looks too healthy, is very well nourished and beautifully groomed. She also knows her ways around people and dogs. Everything in her behavior points toward a well cared family pet who ran out of luck. We will never know of course what is Reina’s story. What really matters now is to start fresh a new chapter in her life. A new home, a new master or family…that is what wonderful Reina needs…loving and be loved, the quest of every dog on the planet. Reina is at the Manhattan Care Center.
