06/23/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/23/16 14:23 Upon intake Reed was tense and had his tail tucked, he barked once counselor approached the carrier. Counselor was able to scan and photograph, not collared due to lunging at ACO when trying to remove collar.

07/02/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Reed is what couch PITato dreams are made of! He is of the “more to love” variety and his face reminds me of a little chipmunk. He was a little nervous when he first arrived, but has warmed up nicely and is such easy company! He has great leash manners, seems housebroken, knows “sit,” and takes treats daintily. If I take him off leash he likes to play with toys, chasing after them and settling down to chew on them, but is happy to share with me. When he’s tuckered out he’ll climb on the bench and stretch out — he loves loungin’! He lets me rub his belly, help scratch his itches, and will kiss my nose. Reed is already neutered and ready to fill that empty spot on your couch today! Come meet this charming, endearing, SWEET gentleman at Brooklyn ACC.

06/28/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reed came into the shelter as a stray, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake it was stated Reed was tense and his tail was tucked. During SAFER Reed had a loose body posture with his tail wagging when interacting with the assessor, he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Reed was playful during the tag interaction at one point jumping on the assessor. During the resource portion of the assessment Reed settled close with the toy and relinquished to the assessor without any issue, he was easy to handle when engaged with the item. However Reed displayed uncomfortable behavior around adult dogs during playgroup. He did not interact with the dogs and would lip curl if they came to close to him. So the behavior department feels Reed can be suitable for an “Average”adopter and we recommend Reed being the only pet in the home. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back lip licks. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-Dog: Reed was tolerant of a gentle puppy’s solicitations but continues to avoid any interactions with adult dogs and will offer a lip curl correction if they are too close for his comfort level.

06/24/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Reed was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Reed is initially nervous and tolerates a dog that persistently greets him. With further play group sessions, Reed mostly spends his time wandering the pen, ignoring the other dog. He is initially tolerant of her greetings but lip curled when she persistently greeted him. He will also display lip curls when dogs are too close for his comfort level. 6/24: Reed is nervous as he greets the other dog. He displays soft body language as he wanders in the pen, tolerating the female dogs persistent greets. 6/25: Reed is nervous, hyper-salivating as he greets the other dog. He mostly spends his time wandering the pen, ignoring the other dog. He is initially tolerant of her greetings but lip curled when she persistently greeted him. 6/26: Reed was tolerant of a gentle puppy’s solicitations but continues to avoid any interactions with adult dogs and will offer a lip curl correction if they are too close for his comfort level.
