A Little Bit About Me…

A staff member writes: “Look at that BEAUTIFUL chocolate and vanilla swirl face! He is GOREGOUS! When I approached him, immediately he greeted me with a loose and wiggly body. He gave me a ton of kisses. Razzle Dazzle is a sucker for some tasty treats and some good butt scratches. He is very well mannered. He’s house-broken and even wipes his feet on the floor after handling his business! Razzle Dazzle is multitalented. He knows commands such as sit, lay down, roll over, and he gives paw. He is such a GOOD BOY! COME SEE HIM AT BACC TODAY!”

A volunteer writes: There are often pleasant surprises at the Brooklyn ACC, but Razzle Dazzle has to be the biggest and best surprise of all! He is so energetic and attention seeking in his cage, jumping and barking for me to notice him and take him out, that I think he’s going to be quite a handful to walk. Nope. He walks perfectly next to me for the entire walk, only leaving my side to do his business then return. I’m shocked– I DREAM of dogs with such good leash manners. When I sit on a bench to try to capture how adorable he is on camera, he makes sure that that’s impossible by crawling into my lap and licking my face all over! 65 pounds is kind of a big lap dog, but that doesn’t stop Razz. He’s so affectionate! And with those golden eyes staring at you expectantly you can’t help but love him back. Even with all his eagerness to give and get love, he’s not overwhelming. He has a certain calmness about him that’s really easy to be around. Whoever takes this gorgeous caramel and cream dreamboat home is one lucky human. I know I’ll be jealous!

ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Razzle Dazzle so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment.
Razzle Dazzle displayed low energy and movement throughout assessment, and will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised.BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: EXPERIENCE (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially with the behaviors outlined below)

Recommendations: Single-pet home, Recommend no dog parks

Recommendations comments:

X_ Single-pet home/Recommend no dog parks: Due to the concerning behaviors that Razzle Dazzle has shown during playgroup (see GROUPBEHAVIOR SUMMARY), we feel that Razzle Dazzle should not visit dog parks and be the only resident dog. The Behavior Department recommends that he be socialized in a more controlled setting until his behavior towards other dogs can be further addressed. Reward-based, force-free training can be utilized to help Razzle Dazzle associate dogs with things he enjoys like toys or treats.
