05/24/17 13:58 Basic Information: Rambo is a 7 year old male Black Lab Mix that has no past or current medical issues that the previous owner is aware of. Previous owner can longer have the dog to a recent bite incident. Socialization: According to the previous owner, around strangers, Rambo is friendly and outgoing. Around adults, Rambo plays in an exuberant manner. Rambo has been around 4 children ages 1-10. With children, Rambo plays in a gentle manner. Rambo has lived with one other small dog and was respectful and playful and played in a gentle manner. Rambo has never been exposed to cats so behavior around them is unknown. He has never bitten another animal but, had bit a person. Behavior: Previous owners stated that Rambo doesn’t have any behavioral issues. During loud noises Rambo isn’t bothered but, will bark when people are yelling. Rambo isn’t bothered when any food, treat, or toy is taken from him or when he is pushed or pulled off furniture. Rambo is afraid of having baths and will attempt to flee. Owner did not trim his nails so behavior is unknown. He isn’t bothered by having her coat brushed or being held/restrained. Rambo barks when an unfamiliar person approaches the home, yard, previous owner, or a family member. For a New Family to Know: Rambo is described as friendly, affectionate, playful and confident with a high activity level. When in the home, Rambo is the type to follow you around seeking attention. Rambo likes balls, squeaky toys, toy bones, and rawhide and he likes to play chase. Rambo was kept mostly indoors and was fed dry food. According to previous owner, Rambo is house-trained and never had any accidents. Rambo usually goes to the bathroom on the dirt. When left alone in the home or yard, Rambo would be well-behaved. Rambo knows commands sit, fetch, and speak. For exercise, he would play in the yard. On the leash, Rambo would pull very hard.

Rambo began barking and owner grabbed his collar to take him out of the room. In response, he bit the owners hand and left a puncture wound. Housetrained: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, affectionate, playful and confident with a high activity level. Other notes: Owner reports Rambo will bark when people are yelling. ENERGY LEVEL: His owner describes Rambo as having a high activity level which matches what we have seen in the care center. Rambo will benefit from having daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. Owner reports Rambo likes balls, squeaky toys, toy bones, and rawhide and he likes to play chase.

RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (suitable for an adopter with some previous dog experience, especially in the behavior outlined below) _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Rambo barks when people are yelling and things in the home get heightened or chaotic. He gives clear warnings when he is uncomfortable (barking) but if prevented from moving away (grabbing collar) there is a potential to escalate to higher-level warning behaviors and possible fear based aggression. It is important to make sure Rambo stays under threshold and is not pushed to escalate further to a bite. He may do best in a calmer household as he has reported aversion to arguing and yelling.
