I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/21/2016 from NY 10457, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

12/21/16 14:56 BASIC INFO Rambo A1100215 is an approximately 5 year old Yorkie/Daschund Mix. He was found as a stray in The Bronx on 12/20/2016. The main reason for surrender is that apart from being lost, Rambo bit an 85 year old senior today 12/21/2016, unprovoked. he does not appear to have health concerns, but finder reported that Rambo was throwing up. SOCIALIZATION Rambo is aggressive towards strangers and attempts to bite. He was around a 6 year old autistic child and he was very well behaved, tolerant and respectful of the child. He played gentle with the child. There were no other animals in the home. Rambo did bite a senior today 12/21/2016 unprovoked. BEHAVIOR According to the finder, Rambo does not allow you to take away his food bowl, water bowl, or toy away. He did allow finder to bathe him. Rambo tries to bite anyone that came near finder. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Rambo is best described as fearful. He was fed Pedigree wet dog food. he went potty all over the home. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Rambo did not want to move or walk or have anyone get next to him.

KNOWN HISTORY: Unaltered, Stray Previously lived with: Adults, a six year old child. Behavior toward children: Was tolerant and respectful of the child he lived with. Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown FG/RG: Rambo does not allow you to take away his food bowl, water bowl, or toy. Bite history: Bit a 85 year old person breaking skin. Housetrained: Unknown Energy level/descriptors: Other notes: Previous owner reported that Rambo snaps at strangers. SAFER ASSESSMENT: Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, body stiff, mouth closed. Tag: 5. Dog growls. Toy: 4. Dog freezes. Summary: Rambo appeared fearful and tense throughout his assessment. He growled during tag. When he was in possession of the toy and the hand came near it Rambo froze. PLAYGROUP: Summary MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 12/21/16 During his initial medical exam Rambo allowed minimal handling, he growled and snapped. We cannot be certain if any other behavior is suppressed as a result of his environment. A period of decompression is advised before introduction or exposure to new and unfamiliar situations.
