I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 11/14/2016 from NY 11213, owner surrender reason stated was ABANDON.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/17/16 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, body a bit tense with her mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1& 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Raindrop was friendly and social towards the assessor with a slow approach, she displayed no concern during her behavior assessment. DOG-DOG ASSESSMENT: Social: These dogs truly enjoy the company of other dogs. They generally get along with all other dogs and can tolerate even very rude or inappropriate behavior. PLAYGROUP: Raindrop was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Raindrop is initially nervous when greeting male and female dogs. With further playgroup sessions, she has become more relaxed and playful with smaller dogs. Raindrop was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Raindrop is initially nervous when greeting male and female dogs. With further playgroup sessions, she has become more relaxed and playful with smaller dogs. In a group of playful larger dogs, Raindrop is initially nervous but becomes more relaxed as the session continues and is able to begin to engage in higher energy play. The Behavior Department recommends that Raindrop be placed in a home with dogs that match her gentle play style and that her future owners continue her socialization around other dogs. 11/15: Raindrop is nervous, greeting a novel female dog with a tucked tail and lowered body. She is tolerant of the other female dog’s face to face greetings and play solicitations, but does not engage. She relaxes slightly as she explores the pen, untucking her tail, but tucks it again when the female approaches to greet. 11/16-17: In a group of smaller male and female dogs, Raindrop is more relaxed and social. She solicits and engages in gentle, running/chase play with a larger male dog. 11/18-11/19: Raindrop is initially nervous with high energy, playful females but attempts to engages in gentler play. She becomes more relaxed as the session continues and is able to begin to engage in higher energy play. 11/20 – 11/21: Raindrop initially engages in high energy play with another puppy and an older female dog, but loses interest and solicits handler interaction as the session continues. 11/22-11/23: Raindrop engages in high energy play in a group of playful male and female dogs.
