I am a female white and cream chihuahua lh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 5 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 05/01/2016 from NY 10026, owner surrender reason stated was BITEANIMAL.

05/02/16 17:00 Basic Information Rabbito was brought in as an owner’s surrender due to attacking animals. Owner says she does not have any injuries or health concerns, and has never been to the vet. Socialization & Behavior Rabbito is described as being initially shy but then relaxes and socializes with strangers. Rabbito has been around a 6-8, and 12-year old, and owner says she is playful and relaxed when around children. Owner says Rabbito does not like being around other dogs besides her litter-mates and mother. She is said to be playful and affectionate with them. Rabbito did have to bite incidents with puppies in her home prior to the intake. Owner notes that Rabbito does not like hearing the blender and will began to bark at it excessively when on. Rabbito is friendly and unbothered if food is touched while eating, also friendly if removed off of furniture. Owner says Rabbito loves the water and enjoys taking baths. For a New family to Know Rabbito is described as being normally sweet and affectionate. Owner says she is a great dog but seems to be jealous of other dogs. When home she is normally following her owner, and enjoys balls and stuffed toys. She is kept mostly indoors and owner says she’ll eat anything when asked if Rabbito eats wet or dry food. Rabbito is house-trained with going outside as well as wee-wee pads. Owner says she never has accidents. Rabbito is said to be behaved when home alone and understand commands sit, come, move, and go. Owner says when off leash Rabbito wanders some but will return when called. Owner does not allow her out off leash much, because she’ll sometimes attempt to chase dogs outside.

Rabbito is extremely fearful; she walks with a low fearful body language on leash. She will approach to the handler with a low body, ears back, tail low and may wag slightly but she didn’t allow the handler to place the collar around her neck. Rabbito became uncomfortable when the assessor tries to petted her she lowered her body, ears back, and she slightly curled his lips. The behavior team decided to skip the handling part of the assessment for safety reasons. During the resources Rabbito was not interested in toys. Rabbito was surrender to us. According to her previous owner she is initially shy but then relaxes and socializes with strangers. Rabbito has been around a 6-8, and 12-year old, and owner says she is playful and relaxed when around children. Owner says Rabbito does not like being around other dogs besides her litter-mates and mother. Rabbito is friendly and unbothered if food is touched while eating, also friendly if removed off of furniture’. The behavior department feels that she would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Rabbito is muzzled for off-leash interaction due to history of incident involving other dogs. Rabbito is nervous and tense. She offers correction for mounting. After giving correction, she follows the other dog with a tense body. Based on past history involving other dogs, as well as overall discomfort around them, Rabbito may be most comfortable as the only resident dog in a home.
