Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Punjabi came to shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavior information other than what has been observed in the shelter environment. Punjabi allowed all handling during his initial exam. When entering the behavior room Punjabi was relaxed, interacting with the assessor in a playful manner. Although he slowly deescalates, Punjabis behavior did not increase he remained playful during the tag portion of the assessment. Punjabi had a soft body posture during the assessment. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, slowly deescalates, but has soft body posture. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1: 1.
