Medical Behavior: Green,  Age: 9 years,  Sex: Spayed female,  Weight: 46 lbs

DVM Intake Exam; Estimated age: 9 years;Microchip noted on Intake? positive ;History : o/s;Subjective: BARH;Observed Behavior – very sweet. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures; Objective P = wnl R = eupneic BCS 5/9;EENT: Eyes clear with nuclear sclerosis ou, ears clean with erythema, no nasal discharge noted;Oral Exam: adult dentition, overbite, no oral lesions noted;PLN: No enlargements noted;H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupneic;ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated;U/G: FS (spay tattoo noted), no MGTs, no vulvar d/c;MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat; CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities;Assessment:Geriatric;Nuclear sclerosis; Plan: Continue to monitor while at BACC; Prognosis: Excellent; SURGERY: spayed

Spay/Neuter Status:  Spayed

Basic Information: Promise ia a 9 year old altred female brown and white Large mixed breed dog. She came to her home from a previous owner when she was 6 month old. She was surredned due to the owner having landlord issues.

Previously lived with: How is this dog around strangers?
Around strangers PRomise is relaxd and aloof. She Allows individual to touch her all over.
How is this dog around children?  Around Children Promise is aloof and gentle, she normally keeps to herself.
How is this dog around other dogs?  Promise has lived with an adult male dog and a 2 month old female dog. around both animal she was respectful and gentle.
How is this dog around cats?  Promise has never been around cats.
Resource guarding: Promise isn’t bothered with someone touching her Food bowl, treat or toys.
Bite history:Promise has no bite history
Housetrained:Yes
Energy level/descriptors:  Medium activity Level

Other Notes:Promise is tense and nervous around loud noises. When ever an unfamiliar person comes into the home or approaches her owner she is aloof and isn’t bothered. Promise is potty triand and uses the cement   and grass.

For a New Family to Know:
Promise was described as Aloof,independent and friendly. She like to lay down close to the owner and likes wet and dry food of the pedigree beef brand. Promise has never been crate trianed and will chew on the furniture cushion, or mattress. She knows commands sit,come and wait. When she is off leash she likes to wander around but will come when called.

Behavior Notes:Upon intake Promise was aloof and relaxed . She aloowed the counselor to collar her and take a photo.

Date of assessment:  22-Mar-2018

Look:1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity:1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.
Tag:1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog might jump on Assessor once play begins.
Paw squeeze 1:1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Eyes are averted and ears are relaxed or back.
Paw squeeze 2:1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Eyes are averted and ears are relaxed or back.
Toy:1. Minimal interest in toy, dog may smell or lick, then turns away.

Summary:Promise was a bit timid initially though readily warmed up and allowed all handling; she displayed no concerns.
Summary (1): According to Promise previous owner, she lived another adult dog and a puppy. She was gentle and respectful around them.
3/20: When off leash at the Care Centers, Promise is nervous around the greeter dog, but relaxes when introduced a softer male dog. She explores the yard, occasionally checking in. She is respectful of a fearful male’s behavior; responding to his warning and body language by moving away.
3/22: In a group of calm female dogs, Promise politely greets the other dogs. She explores the pens, occasionally checking in.

ENERGY LEVEL:Her previous owner reports a medium activity level, in line with what has been observed in the care center.
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION:AVERAGE (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
