08/30/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Hailing from the kingdom of all things sweet…Princess P! I don’t think this little lady could possibly be more endearing. She is very submissive and frequently greets new people with a wiggly army crawl, might pee a little at first pet, and then offers all the belly you could ever hope for! She can be a little timid, but a toy is all it takes to bring out her playful side. She jumps, play bows, fetches, delights at the squeak of a plushy, and romps around like she’s carrying treasure. She seems interested in other dogs we’ve seen on walks and in our playgroups she has greeted new dogs much like she greets new people before warming up to play chase. She has been good on leash with me, seems housebroken, and takes treats very gently. She is so, so cuddly and when I ask her to “sit” she does so on my feet with her body pressed against me and then looks up at me with the softest eyes. When I put a tutu on her she initially spun around chasing it, took it off, and then gallivanted around with it in her mouth — so cute! She is so, so, so sweet and a lap is the only throne she’ll need. Please come meet this very special little lady at Brooklyn ACC.
08/25/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princes P was surrendered to our care centers on 8/20/16; Client has kept Princes P for three days in his home as she originally belongs to his brother, she was brought in because he could no longer care for her and is unsure of when his brother will return. Behavior during intake: Princes P was friendly and allowed all handling. During SAFER came into the assessment room playful and friendly she had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, Princes P allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Princes P was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Princes P was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Princes P appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, and open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game with her body a bit low. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1/2:1 . Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Paygroup:Princes P is nervous while interacting with calm female dogs. She displays a low body and tucked tail while greeting the other dogs. When the other dogs greet her for too long, she self-handicaps and rolls on her back.
08/22/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Princess P was brought in as a stray so her behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Princess P displays soft and wiggly body language when interaction with large and small male and female dogs. She may self-handicap herself by rolling on her back when dogs greet her for too long. She sometimes engages in running chase play. The Behavior Department recommends Princess P be placed in a home with a dog that matches her gentle play style. 8/22: Princess P crawls and wiggles to the front of the gate to greet the helper dog. Once inside she stays low and greets with a soft body. She is tolerant of pushy solicitors and sexually motivated males and eventually loosens up and engages in running chase play with other dogs. 8/23-8/25: Princess P is nervous while interacting with calm female dogs. She displays a low body and tucked tail while greeting the other dogs. When the other dogs greet her for too long, she self-handicaps and rolls on her back. 8/26: In a group of little dogs, Princess P displays loose and wiggly body language as she interacts with the smaller dogs. 8/27- 8/29, 8/31-9/3: Princess P solicits gentle play in a group of smaller male and female dogs. 8/30: Princess P briefly greets larger males and females dog, in a non-playful group. She eventually keeps to herself, and sits in a corner.
