09/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess previously lived with adults and small children. The owner stated Princess is tolerant of strangers, adults and children. The owner mentioned Princess has been around cats and does not like them at all; she will lunge, barks and tries to chase them. It was reported by the owner Princess is house trained. At intake it was reported Princess was nervous and hid behind the chair, she did allow all handling. During SAFER Princess came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Princess was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Princess was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Princess appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter and we recommend no cats in the household. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Princess mostly keeps to herself as she wanders in a group of male and female dogs. She will offer correction when a dog greets her face to face.
