02/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
2/6/16 13:34 Basic information: Princess was brought in as a stray. The finder found her wandering loose in the street, the finder brought Princess home for two weeks then brought her to the shelter because Princess was not getting along with her older Pit Bull (Princess plays too rough jumping all over the other dog and play bitting) . Princess was not around children but was very friendly and playful with strangers and adults in the home. The finder fed Princess Eukanuba dry dog food twice a day. No other information was provided during intake. Intake Behavior: During intake Princess was very loose, with wiggly body. Princess allowed to be scanned (negative), collared, pictured, and placed in a dog kennel.
02/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A perfectly pretty youngster who assumes that everyone wants to be her friend, that and life was meant for living large, Princess may be elegantly slender but her personality is definitely plus-sized! She meets the world with endless curiosity and a smile as wide as the sky, and while her flurry of welcoming tail wags is combined with some pulling and barking that other dogs don’t always appreciate, when left leash-free to play as she pleases this happy girl couldn’t be more social. Toys aren’t really her thing, but cuddles and kisses certainly are, and she’s just as eager to give as receive. A responsive walker and seemingly house trained, Princess knows commands for come and sit (we’re working on ‘shake paw’ too!) and follows them like a pro before taking her reward treats with a gentle touch. Clearly the Care Center’s most stunning redhead isn’t just another pretty face, and with guidance in appropriate how-do-you-do greetings from her new parents, I have high hopes she’ll graduate from a Party Princess to the Queen of Good Manners in no time. Whatever the weather, you’ll always be walking in sunshine with lovely Princess by your side, and now that she’s the proud owner of a great behavior assessment, this good girl is ready, set and waiting to go home with your family today!
02/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Princess pulls a bit on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Princess was calm and relaxed during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. She took the toy away but had soft body language. Princess did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home. Look: 1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. When off leash with other dogs Princess is bouncy and offers paw slaps to solicit play. She attempts to get the helper dog to give chase when she begins running. 2/10 update: Princess continues to be playful, engaging in running play with a boistrous male that involves a good deal of pushing and running into things. 2/11 update: Princess is pushy and rude, not stopping her solicitations once the other dog offers correction. 2/12 update: Princess continues to exhibit these behaviors when off leash with other dogs. She will begin to bark when the other dogs cease playing with her. 2/13 update: Princess is softer and more polite today, interacting and engaging appropriately with the males and females in the large group of dogs.
