04/15/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
4/15 update: Prince is not thriving in the shelter environment. He often responds to approach with a tense body, barking and baring his teeth at the front of the kennel. He may also bite at an object held up to the kennel bars. He stops momentarily for treats but will revert to the behavior when the treating stops. Due to this behavior Prince cannot remain in our adoptions room, and we recommend placement into a stable home environment quickly. 4/12 SAFER: Prince previously lived with 3 adults in the home. The owner stated Prince is affectionate and playful around family members. The owner mentioned Prince is house trained and well-behaved when home alone, and he is described as affectionate, loyal and playful. Prince has a bite history, biting the owner’s girlfriend on the ear during a fight between the two people that involved loud noise, commotion, and physical contact. Prince may also growl at certain people he meets, with no clear trigger. At intake it was reported Prince was fearful with tense body language, all handling was allowed with assistance of the owner. During SAFER Prince came into the assessment room a bit nervous and fearful, he was very social and muzzled punch the assessor hand. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Prince was easily aroused, mouths the leash with tense body language and quickly de-escalates during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Prince was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to Prince previous bite history, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted.
