01/21/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/21/16 17:37HRS Prince is described as excited, very playful and very affectionate. Since he was a few months old he lived in a home with adults and children aged 7 and 10 years old. He is playful with the children allowing them to pet him and tug at his ears and tail. Prince has never interacted with another dog while in his owner’s home. When he notices other dogs outside, he will bark and attempt to pull towards them. BEHAVIOR Prince isn’t bothered when he is approached while eating or when his owner removes food from his mouth. He is accustomed to being bathed once a week and will sit still in the tub while he is being scrubbed clean. Prince enjoys being brushed and petted. His owner stated that Prince is normally very active in the home. He likes to jump up and down on visitors when they enter the home, sometimes knocking them over. Prince is crated when left alone during the day. Prince will chew on items in the home like cardboard boxes and his leash if left alone. His owner stated that he will initially bark for 15 minutes once he is left alone in the home. Prince owner stated that he isn’t completely house trained and will relieve himself inside his crate or the house if he isn’t walked 3x a day. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Prince is accustomed to the command “sit.” He likes to chew on raw hide and play with basketballs. When he is walked, he is walked always on leash. He has been to dog runs and will run up and down for at least 20 min until he is tired. His owner stated that Prince did get along well with the other dogs at the dog run. He is accustomed to eating Pedigree dry dog food. He sleeps inside of his crate at night. DURING INTAKE Prince was panting while wagging his tail during intake. When he was given attention by calling his name or looking at him, he attempted to jump up onto the Admissions Counselors legs. He allowed petting and responded well to the command sit when offered treats. When Prince became overly excited, he began to pant more and bark. He was collared, scanned for a microchip (negative) and photographed.
01/26/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: A dog who has lived with children, who sits in the tub enjoying his weekly bath, likes being brushed and petted, is crate trained, and needs a little tweaking on his housetraining skills. Prince was thrilled to be chosen for an early morning walk, using the ‘facilities’ as soon as we were out the door. He pulls a bit on the leash, gave me stand up hugs, and is gorgeously taken care of. I love his ears and the way they frame his adorable face, and his compact little body is sleek and perfect. He wanted to meet everyone we passed on our walk, happy to make new friends as he wagged his tail in greeting. His former owner tells us that Prince got along well with other dogs in the dog run, but in our playgroup he was a bit stiff and reactive. He needs an experienced person to guide him, and a family to love him. He’s snuggly, playful and sweet, looking forward to a new life. Stealing lyrics from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, ” Someday my Prince will come, some day I’ll find my love, and how thrilling that moment will be”. That moment could be now, come meet our Prince today!

Prince pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. Prince was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He played tug-of-war with the leash, his body was a bit stiff, jumping up and body checking during tag interaction but at the end of the game he was easy to distract him. 01/22/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
When off leash with other dogs Prince is stiff when initially greeting the helper dog (female). The two walk past each other and Prince turns around, walks toward her and when he gets close he escalates. He stiffens, growls and lunges toward the helper dog while snapping. She offers correction, but he only ceases when handler correction is offered. Prince’s owner reports that when he sees other dogs on leash he will “bark and attempt to pull towards them.” The owner also stated that Prince goes to the dog run and “gets along well with the other dogs.” Because the owner information conflicts greatly with the observations made in the care center, the behavior department recommends does not go to a home with other dogs until his behaviors and socialization skills with other dogs can be followed up on.
