03/21/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Prince previously lived with two adults and four children between the ages 4- 12. He was said to be relaxed and playful towards everyone in the household, but been reported to be somewhat rough with the children due to his size. Prince was described as playful, confident and independent, with an activity level is very high. During intake it was noted that Prince was sniffing around the room and jumped on everyone when greeting, but he allowed all handling and was easily collared by an admissions counselor. During SAFER Prince was excitable but sociable towards the assessor. He allowed all handling items without issue, and was playful during the tag interaction. Prince was easily pushed out of the food bowl during the food item, and was easy to handle when playing with the toys and showed no interest in the rawhides. Prince showed no aggression toward children in the home environment and may do well with them at times, but due to his high energy and rough play he may intimidate or be too rough for smaller children. So an experienced adopter with no small children is recommended. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is down, body a bit tense, mouth closed, lip long, ears back, lip licks. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Food: 1. Dog calmly allows the food to be moved, follows the dish, but does not interfere with the dish’s movement. Dog’s body is soft and loose, eyes soft, tail neutral. He lifts his head when hand is pushed against his cheek. Toy 1: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Prince is initially avoidant of the helper female and would actively avoid interacting with her but then warms up and tries to engage a little bit. Will approach and smell her in greeting.
