05/08/16 18:41 Pretty Gurl A1072900 is an approx 2 yo Bull terrier mix that is being surrendered due to her owner being hospitalized. She is an emotional support dog. Her last vet visit was in 2015 and she currently has no known health issues. The owner’s ex girlfriend surrendered Pretty Gurl. She stated that Pretty Gurl is very friendly with strangers. She mostly gravitates towards males. She does not like other dogs/animals and was walked with a muzzle. She will bark and lunge at other dogs/squirrels/cats/birds on her walks. She loves children over the age of 10 years old because she loves to run around and chase them. She does not like younger children because they have pulled her tail and ears in the past but she can tolerate them. She has not been around cats. She has not bitten anyone or any other animals. She was fed science diet and will eat any type of house food. Her favorite snacks are honeybuns. Behavior during intake Pretty Gurl was very friendly with the staff. She came into BXACC with a muzzle due to her not liking other dogs in the street. Once the muzzle was off, her tail wagged when we approached. She was scanned(-), collared and photographed and was transferred into a kennel.

05/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
5/16 update: Pretty Gurl has demonstrated high levels of anxiety and reactivity in the care center. Please see GroupBehavior notes for details of anxious behavior; on-leash and through kennel bars Pretty Gurl reacts to other dogs by pulling, barking, lunging, and snapping, and is very difficult to control. This is in line with what her intake profile states. Due to the severity of the reaction as well as her known history we are recommending placement with a New Hope partner at this time, and we caution that any group taking Pretty Gurl should have a plan in place to make sure she receives the support she needs to address this anxiety. She will likely require a counterconditioning and desensitization protocol. We recommend safety tools to keep Pretty Gurl and those around her safe and comfortable, and that she be the only dog in the home until her behavior is addressed. 5/11 SAFER: Pretty Gurl pulls a bit on leash. She was not sociable, and was more interested in the surroundings than the handler during the assessment. Pretty Gurl was calm and relaxed during handling. She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Pretty Gurl took the toy with a soft body language. Pretty Gurl is noted to be friendly with strangers, mostly gravitating towards males. She does not like other dogs/animals and was walked with a muzzle. She will bark and lunge at other dogs/squirrels/cats/birds on her walks. She loves to run around and chase children over 10 years of age. She can be uncomfortable around younger children but is tolerant. Pretty Gurl shows a bit of concern when she past dog’s trough the kennel she get tense, growls and charges at them. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. She grab at the leash with a soft body language but was easy to distracted him. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy.
05/10/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Due to high levels of anxiety, Pretty Gurl has only had a limited number of introductions off leash. During both of these introductions, she was more focused on seeking to exit the yard as opposed to the other dogs. Previous owner reports “She does not like other dogs/animals and was walked with a muzzle. She will bark and lunge at other dogs/squirrels/cats/birds on her walks”. The behavior department recommends that she be the only dog in the home until her behavior is addressed. Pretty Gurl has also displayed concerning behavior while on-leash around other dogs while in our care, please see Behavior entry for details. When off leash with other dogs, Pretty Gurl is anxious in the yard. She corrects approach, and seeks exit from the yard. 5/11 update: Pretty Gurl greets very briefly then begins panicking, jumping at the door and seeking exit.
