I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 06/15/2017 from NY 11216, owner surrender reason stated was LLORDPRIVA. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-101022.

Preciosa A1115481 is at risk for a New Hope Only behavior determination. Preciosa has been fearful and has avoided interaction since coming into the care center, and due to this behavior we were unable to complete a handling assessment.

06/15/17 18:54 Basic Information: I have a limited profile because Anthony Bradford seemed intoxicated; he came in to surrender A1115481 (Preciosa) and A1115479 (Dino). Mr. Bradford told me that he had the dogs for two days; he received them from an anonymous person whom he did not mention. He stated that he needed to surrender because he was moving and could not take the animals with him. Socialization: Owner states that Preciosa is friendly with strangers; she has spent time with children 5, 7, and 13 years old. Preciosa is relaxed, respectful and affectionate with them. When playing with adults and children Preciosa is gentle. Preciosa has living history with Dino (A1115479). During Admissions: Preciosa seems to have a mammary gland. She was laying down during intake she seemed a little lethargic; not wanting to walk at times .Preciosa allowed handling and having her picture taken.

KNOWN HISTORY: Limited profile 6/15/17 Unaltered Female, Owner surrender (Two days in the finder home) Previously lived with: Adults and spent time wit children(5,7 and 13 years old) Behavior toward strangers: Friendly Behavior toward children: Relaxed, respectful and affectionate Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Unknown Resource guarding: Unknown Bite history: Unknown Housetrained: Unknown Energy level/descriptors: Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 6/17/17 Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Preciosa was fearful and timid in the her kennel, she would dodge from the leash and stick to the back of the cage. When Preciosa entered the assessment room she smelled the ground for a bit and then hid under the desk, the handler tried to remove her with the leash. Then Preciosa growled at the assessor with her body stiff and ears backs. PLAYGROUP: Pending. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 6/15/17: Upon intake Preciosa was calm and allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/16/17: During her medical examination, Preciosa tried to bite when touched by her head and ears, she allowed minimal handling. RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13) _X_Place with a New Hope partner -Preciosa has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. We recommend placement with a New Hope partner who can provide any necessary behavior modification (force-free, positive reinforcement-based) and re-evaluate behavior in a stable home environment before placement into a permanent home. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression- Preciosa has shown some escalated warning behaviors in the care center and with the finder. It is important to make sure Preciosa stays under threshold and is not pushed to escalate further to a bite.

According to Preciosa’s previous guardian, Preciosa lived with another small dog. 6/17- 6/18: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Preciosa mostly keeps to herself in a group of small male and female dogs. She is tolerant of their face to face greetings.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 6-7 yo Microchip noted on Intake? yes – 0A12285338 History : o surrender, came in with A1115479 Dino – minimal hx Subjective: QAR-H Observed Behavior – Allows some of the exam but needs restrain, Tries to bite when examining around head/ ears and for vx/ blood draw. Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = 132 R = eup BCS= 4/9 EENT: Eyes cornea/ sclera/ conj clear. Ears clean but R pinna has matted hair. No nasal discharge noted Oral Exam: mild generalized tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSA, 3/6 murmur, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female – no spay scar seen. Prominent vulva – no discharge. R caudal mammary gland – pedunculated irregular ulcerated mass a bit larger than a golf ball. Several (3-4) small firm sq masses coalesced together in inguinal area just cranial to vulva. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: n Assessment Mammary tumor 3/6 heart murmur Plan tramadol 50 mg 1/4 tab po bid x 2 days. BW and xrays tomorrow. Re-check VC tomorrow. Prognosis: Guarded SURGERY: Permanent waiver due to mammary tumor and heart murmur.
