09/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
09/07/16 16:02 Basic Information: Prada is a four year old white and tan pit mix. The owner stated that she was a gift from a friend but that her family is no longer able to keep Prada because they are currently in the process of moving to a new home that does not allow dogs. Socialization: Prada’s family informed our counselor’s that she is a friendly dog that will greet anyone with a wagging tail. She has spent time around children ( 5 month old and 14 year olds). Given Prada’s energetic, friendly nature, she does have a tendency to jump on people. The owner’s stated that she has been around other dogs but that her behavior can quickly change when she is around some dogs, and it really depends on the nature of the interaction. She did however get along well with a dog that she used to share her home with. When cats or other animals are in sight Prada will attempt to engage with them, although she has never been in an altercation with one. Behavior: The family noted that Prada is house broken but within the past month she has had accidents in the home. She shows no signs of food aggression and they stated that she will patiently wait till you are done filling her bowl before she begins eating. She enjoys an occasional brush but will try to escape when given a bath. For a New Family to Know: Prada is known to approach people with a wagging tail and soft, wiggly body. She is a high energy dog that had a tendency to follow her owners around the home when they were present. During walks she pulls on the leash, but if you wait till she stops pulling she will eventually walk by your side. She does not bark a lot but she does whine and cry when her owners leave the home. One of her favorite activities is racing the owner’s teenage daughter. In the care of her previous owner she had been given a mix of wet and dry food, the dry food being Alpo.

09/08/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Prada previously lived with adults and has spent time with children ages five months old and fourteen years old. The owner stated Prada is friendly and playful towards everyone she meets. The owner mentioned Prada lived with another dog and they got along well with each other. It was reported by the owner Prada is house broken, has a high energy level and when home alone she will whine and cry. During SAFER Prada came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Prada was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Prada was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Prada appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Prada greets the male dog displaying neutral body language. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen, ignoring the greeter dog.
09/08/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
According to Prada’s previous owner, Prada has been around other dogs but that her behavior can quickly change when she is around some dogs, and it really depends on the nature of the interaction. She did however get along well with a dog that she used to share her home with. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Prada displays neutral body language when greeting male and female dogs. She mostly keeps to herself and will offer a correction when a dog rushes her or greets her for too long. The Behavior Department believes that Prada would be most comfortable as the only dog in a the home, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with a potential adopter’s calm dog to assess Prada’s comfort level. 9/8: Prada greets the male dog displaying neutral body language. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen, ignoring the greeter dog. 9/10: Prada greets a female dog displaying neutral body language. She mostly keeps to herself as she explores the pen. When the other female dog engages in a long face to face greeting, Prada offers a correction by air snapping and jumps away from the other dog. 9/13: Prada offers a hard correction when a dog attempts to greet her face to face.
