BEHAVIOR :
Powder came into the shelter as a stray on 7/14/16, so there is no owner information at this time. Upon intake it was reported Powder was loose and friendly, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Powder came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor, and he allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Powder was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Powder was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Powder appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels he can be suitable for an “Average” adopter.
Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item.
Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft.
Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw.
Toy 1: No interest.
Dog-Dog:Powder greets appropriately and spends most of his time wandering in the pen.
