03/23/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/23/16 11:19hrs Powder is described as an affectionate and reserved dog. She was cared for by her owner since she was puppy. She lived in a home with children aged 2, 5 and 8 years old. Powder is playful with the children, allowing them to pet her all over and even ride on her back. She has interacted with other dogs outside. She will stare at them while wagging her tail and trying to approach them. BEHAVIOR Powder allows her family to touch her while she is eating and to remove food from her mouth. Powder will spend most of the day following her owner around the home. She is bathed 1x a month and is well behaved. She will spend time running up and down the stairs in her owner’s home. Powder is restricted to a certain part of the home when left alone but is well behaved. Her owner noted that she will tear at shoes lying around in open if left alone. Powder will bark at unfamiliar that knock at the door and enter the home. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Powder knows the command “sit, come, and go to your bed.” Powder enjoys playing with hard rope and rubber toys. She likes to play fetch and tag. Powder is walked 3x a day for about 10 minutes at a time. She is allowed to walk off leash and will stay near her owner. Powder knows how to use wee wee pads inside of the home as well. Powder is accustomed to eating Wild Life dry dog food. She sleeps in her own bed but will attempt to climb into bed with her owner. DURING INTAKE Powder would approach the Admissions Counselors and allow them to pet her. She would lower her head and move away if she a hand is extended towards her too quickly. Powder was collared, scanned for a microchip(negative) and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.
03/25/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Powder is such a pretty name for this lovely young gal as delicate looking as a little white cloud. Her eyes are real jewels and her subtle markings make of her a very feminine and attractive dog. She is a teensy weensy shy (her former owner says that she can be reserved) but plays very nicely with her peers in playgroups. She comes immediately when called, sits on command and appreciates caresses. She hops on the bench for some bonding. Powder pulls a little on the leash and does her business as soon as we enter the street. She has an eye for the pigeons, but so do many pooches. She nears other dogs, big and small, in a very proper way. Powder is with us through no fault of her own. Her landlord unfriended pets. She lived happily with young children, was sociable with strangers, other dogs, affectionate and with no handling issues. A pity. She was owned by the same family since tender puppyhood. It is of course, never too late to start one’s life all over again. Powder is therefore waiting for you, right here at the Manhattan Care Center, hoping to be soon your new forever best friend.

03/24/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Powder engages in running, mouthy play with males and females. She becomes vocal during play, and may also lack appropriate social skills when interacting with other dogs. Based on these observations, the behavior department recommends that Powder may be placed into a home with a dog that has a similar style of play. Pre-adoption interaction is encouraged to ensure compatabiltiy with a resident dog. She arrived into our care as a stray, so in-home behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash with other dogs Powder bounces around and offers lots of paw slaps during play. She becomes overwhelmed with rough play and will stop engaging. 3/25 update: Powder takes time to warm up, entering and allowing all dogs to sniff her as she explores the pen. She then begins to run around and engage in bouncy play. 3/26 update: Powder is foward upon introduction, immediately engaging in mouthy running play. She offers correction when mounted. 3/29 update: Powder is pushy and vocal, lacking appropriate social skills when interacting with males and females. 3/30 update: Powder continues to display these behaviors. 3/31 update: Powder engages in vocal, pushy play.
