06/10/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: The best things in life are free, but a little luxury never hurt anyone. Well it doesn’t get more luxurious than Porshe. Built for cuddles not for speed, I can honestly say 2 year-old Porshe is one of the sweetest souls I’ve met. I sensed it about her right from the start, the very moment I spotted her in her kennel. And so, operating under “save the best for last,” I saved my walk with Porshe for the very end of my day, and did she ever not disappoint. Porshe is a feather on leash padding delicately and daintily in front of me as we stroll around the block. She tends to business straight away and sweetly looks back at me searching for approval, her worried eyes and furrowed brow instantly tugging at my heart. Speaking of heart. That’s all that Porshe is, something I learn the moment we two step into an open pen. She follows me every which way I go, sits for treats without my asking (still with that worried brow), and when I sit on a bench and ask for a kiss she quickly obliges me on my hand. Wait. How have I not mentioned her beauty? I suppose since it goes without saying. Dressed to the nines in her tuxedo coat and with amber eyes that look straight through you, Porshe is as sleek, luxurious, and beautiful as even the fanciest of rides. The best things in life are free but to know the love of a girl like Porshe? Well that is nothing short of priceless. Porshe is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan ACC.

DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: When introduced to another dog on leash, Porsche displays soft, wiggly body PLAYGROUP: Summary INTAKE BEHAVIOR: 6/8/17 Porsche had a wagging tail the whole time and loose body. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/8/17 During her initial medical exam Porsche allowed all handling ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Porsche so we cannot be certain of her behavior in a home environment. However, she is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep her engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct her energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) Potential challenges: _X_Basic manners/Poor impulse control: Porsche jumps up when excited. It is recommended that default behaviors such as “Leave it”, “Sit/Stay”, “Down” are reinforced to substitute any frustration and teach her to control her impulses instead of simply reacting; proper management is also advised. Force-free, reward based training only is recommended.
