04/28/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Polyester would like to register a protest — he says he’s 100% pure silk, and I have to agree!!! Gorgeous in his slate gray coat, he was so anxious to go for a walk he peed enough to raise the Hudson River by 5 inches as soon as we were on the street. Whew…………! Once all his business is taken care of he walks nicely on leash, ignoring all dogs, big and small, that we pass. Off leash, he’s all about snuggling, and although he does a half hearted bounce after a toy, he’d much rather be with his person, on a lap, enjoying a treat. He’s quiet and low key, sweet and easy, looking for a new snuggle partner. Polyester is hoping you’ll ask to meet him when you visit and invite him onto your lap. He’ll show you what a great snuggle partner is all about! Watch the adorable Polyester by copy-pasting this link to your browser bar– Watch a video of Polyester click here
04/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Polyester pulls a bit on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up, mouthy (moderate). He was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. Polyester was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. He took the toy with a soft body language. Polyester is an active dog he need a significant amount of exercise and mental stimulation. The behavior department feels that he can go to an experienced home that can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, but is unresponsive to the Assessor, and approaches the Assessor at the end of the game (may need coaxing to approach.) He is focused on stimuli other than the Assessor. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand applying moderate pressure. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor’s hand applying moderate pressure. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy.
