02/11/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Polo came in as a stay, so his past behaviors in a home are unknown. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Polo is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time. At intake it was reported Polo was tranq’d entering the care center no handling was conducted. During Medical exam limited handling was conducted due to his behavior he can be seen growling and lip curls. In the kennel Polo can be seen growling, snarling, lunging and trying to bite when approaching his kennel. A SAFER assessment will not be conducted due to safety and stress level concerns. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New Hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time.
