QAR, shy, sweet; allows handling BCS 4/9 EENT: AS-crusting yellow discharge, lichenification along pinna and extending into canals nose clear mild periocular erythema Oral Exam: mm pk, moist; CRT <2 sec; mild tartar PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: male intact; 2 scrotal testicles MSI: ambulatory x 4 with no lameness alopecia, crusting on outer ear AS; interdigital erythema x 3; hot spot on scrotum multiple linear areas of alopecia along either side of muzzle-appear like healing staph infection vs scars CNS: mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Assessment Otitis externa AS dermatitis/hot spot Plan cephalexin 750 mg PO BID x 14 days hydroxyzine 50 mg BID x 10 days otibiotic AS SID x 10 days Prognosis: good; allergies are common in this breed and may be due to the environment or food; he will likely need intermittent symptomatic care for skin infections and ear infections related to allergies; if signs are noted to be year round, then a diet trial and allergy testing is recommended SURGERY: Okay for surgery
