08/27/17 15:50 Pineapple is a large brown and white brindle dog. He came to the center as a stray dog. During intake, Pineapple was loose bodied and wiggly. He pulled hard on the leash when taken outside. He liked being petted and listened to sit.
09/10/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pineapple is such a tangy name for a sweet little guy! One thing’s for sure, though, his gentle demeanor is quite a refreshing treat. On the smaller side, Pineapple is easy to walk, seems housetrained and has been shy, yet playful in doggy playgroups. He’s so happy and when his tail wags his whole body shakes along with it. When I sat down on the ground with him, he eagerly climbed into my lap and buried his head into the crook of my neck. He loves to be hugged and held, and reassured everything is going to be alright! And I’m more than willing to snuggle him back! So have you had your serving of fruit yet? Ask to meet Pineapple today!
08/29/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: None 8/27/17 Unaltered Male, Stray Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 8/29/17 Look:1. Dog holds gaze with soft eyes, soft body. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Dog holds gaze for three full seconds. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag:1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1&2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Pineapple was friendly and social towards the assessor. PLAYGROUP: When off leash at the Care Center, Pineapple is initially nervous- tail tucked and avoidant, when greeting a group of male and female dogs. As the session continues, he loosens up-displaying a soft posture and engaging in gentle play. Pineapple was brought in as a stray so his behavior around other dogs is unknown. The Behavior Department recommends that Pineapple be placed in a home with resident dogs that are respectful and match his gentle play style. INTAKE BEHAVIOR 8/27/17: Upon intake Pineapple was loose and wiggly, he allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/28/17: During his medical examination, Pineapple was friendly and wiggly, he allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Pineapple so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
