07/23/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: “I’ll be there for youuuuu.” That’s the song that starts playing in my head with one look into Phoebe’s eyes. And I’ve no doubt that she would! When the rain starts to pour, like she’d been there before, Phoebe has all the makings of a forever…companion. And it’s hard to miss Miss Phoebe in her kennel. With her cafe latte coat, sweet, floppy ears, and well, those emerald eyes, Phoebe wins me over straight away and in no time we’re off for our walk. But while I might be seeing stars and hearing songs, Phoebe has business on her mind. She does pull a bit on leash as she searches for the perfect spot, but after everything is handled and with a quick flick of her pretty back legs, she’s back to launching her charm offensive on everyone she sees. “What a gorgeous girl!” “Beautiful!” And to all of it Phoebe just pads along. Because when you’re this pretty in pink (or any color really) compliments are as frequent as the summer day is long. Soon Phoebe and I retire to a pen where she sits nicely for her treats and nuzzles a soft plushy toy (a pink one but of course) all the while keeping her sunny smile not one feather ruffled by the temps. And about an hour after our time together, who should I see wooing a group of corporate volunteers in a nearby pen, even going so far as to flop over for a belly rub, than my sweet girl Phoebe. This one truly has it all. Phoebe has enjoyed the company of other dogs so far in playgroup and we do not have any history of her with cats (“smelly” or otherwise). So even if you’re not stuck in second gear, and whether or not it’s been your day, your week, your month, or even your year – you could use some Phoebe in your life. Aka, your new best friend. Phoebe is waiting in adoptions at Manhattan ACC.
