I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 08/17/2016 from NY 10451, owner surrender reason stated was CHILDCONFL.

8/17/16 19:32 Basic information: Perla is a 3 yr. old Shih Tzu mix. The Owner got her from a friend as a gift; he has owned Perla for over 4 months. The owner surrendered Perla because Perla is not getting along with her children. Perla has never been taken to a vet. Socialization: Around strangers Perla is friendly playful. Perla has lived with between the ages of 6 and 9 years old, Perla does not like to be chased or roughly played with by children and will growl and bark at them. Perla does not like other dogs and will bark at them if they come to close to her. Perla has never bitten anyone. Behavior: The owner stats that Perla is not bothered when some moves her food or treats while she is eating, when someone takes her toys away or when someone disturbs her while sleeping. Perla likes to be brushed and given bathes but has never had her nails trimmed. When an unfamiliar person or animal approaches a family member or her home she barks at them. The owner does not know how Perla is around loud noises such as storms or fireworks. For a new family to know: The owner describes Perla as friendly and affectionate with a medium activity level. His favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Perla tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept mainly indoors. Perla sleeps in the floor of the bedroom on a dog bed. Perla was fed Pedigree dry and wet dog food three times a day. He is house trained and has never had an accident in the home, when outside he goes to the bathroom on or around trees and grass. Perla knows the commands “sit “and “Come”. For exercise Perla is used to brisk walks on the leash and twice a day and does not pull on the leash. Behavior during intake: Perla was relaxed with lose body, when approached by staff Perla retreated from the staff member but allowed slow approach, owner was able to assist us, scanned (-), collared and placing in dog kennel.

Perla was difficult to remove from her kennel showing teeth. Once she was out of the kennel walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag. Perla was calm and relaxed during the look and sensitivity but she was uncomfortable during the squeeze item turning quickly and biting the assessor’s hand without breaking skin. Perla showed no interest in toys. Perla was surrender to us. According to her previous owner around strangers Perla is friendly playful. Perla has lived with between the ages of 6 and 9 years old, Perla does not like to be chased or roughly played with by children and will growl and bark at them. Perla does not like other dogs and will bark at them if they come to close to her. The owner stats that Perla is not bothered when some moves her food or treats while she is eating, when someone takes her toys away Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick. Squeeze 1: 5. Dog bite the assessor hand without breaking skin. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-to-dog: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Perla offers defensive correction upon approach.
