Hx: Was in an accident four years ago and has knee arthritis since then S: Nervous, won’t settle, allows gentle handling but nips when vaccinated O: BAR-H, BCS 5/9, muscle wasting over pelvis, MMs pink and moist EENT: Mild discharge AU, no discharge OU, nose. 11/14/16 18:52 Socialization Peppy Roman is usually indifferent towards strangers but he does not approach them or run away from them and prefers if they do not approach him. He has not been around kids before. He is great with other animals. He has lived with a chihuahua and a poodle and gets along great with them and with strange dogs. He has shared a home with several cats and he plays with them and rough houses but is completely used to cats. Behavior Peppy Roman is house trained and goes to the bathroom on weewee pads and outside. He does not destroy things inside the house. He is very scared of thinder and loud noises or rowdy noises. He will run away into another room or try to hide. He does not mind if you touch o r take his food, treats or toys. He will allow his owner to pick him up but otherwise he will try to run away or flinch from touch. He is not bothered by being bathed or brushed. He does not react or bark when others come to the house ro knock on the door. New Family Peppy Roman has a low to medium level of energy at home. When his owner comes home he follows her around but then he will mind his business and not seek attention. He does not play with toys. He likes to use the bathroom in the grass and dirt. He is well behaved in the house when left alone. He does not know any commands and likes to go on slow walks on the leash. He pulls slightly on the leash and is not walked without a leash or else will run away. He is fed Little ceasers fillet wet food and grilled or boiled chicken. Intake Peppy Roman avoids being touched and is very nervous, Peppy Roman bit councilor during medical examination, it did not break skin.

Energy level/descriptors: Has a low to medium energy level Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 11/15/16 Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 4. Dog repeatedly turns toward the Assessor’s hand with a very fast head movement. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog closes mouth, becomes stiff. Flank 1: 3. Dog head flips while moving hip away. Flank 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy: 1. No interest. Summary: Peppy Roman appeared uncomfortable with up close handling, attempting to put distance between himself and the Assessor whenever possible.
