08/15/16 14:38 Basic Information: Pepper Ann is an American Pit Bull Terrier who was brought in as a stray. Socialization: Around strangers Pepper Ann is friendly and outgoing. Pepper Ann has not been around cats, other dogs or children while with her finder. Behavior: Pepper Ann did not bite any animals or people while with her finder.Pepper Ann would defecate and urinate while indoors and was nervous around loud sounds. It is unknown how Pepper Ann will react if someone touches her food or bowl while she is eating, takes a toy or treat away , pushes/pulls her off of the furniture, holds/restrains her, disturbs her while she is resting/sleeping, gives her a bath, brushes her, or trims her nails. If an unfamiliar person approahes Pepper Ann’s family or home she is friendly toward them, For a new family to know: Pepper Ann is described as friendly and affectionate with a high activity level.Pepper Ann was fed dry food twice a day. Intake behavior: Pepper Ann allowed staff to collar, scan for a microchip and take pictures withno signs of aggression. Pepper-Ann was very energetic during her intake and was excited to greet staff. Pepper-Ann enjoyed being pet and rubbed by staff.

Pepper -Anne was surrendered into the shelter as a stray, she has minimal in-home behavior information. The client stated around strangers Pepper -Ann is friendly and outgoing. Pepper- Ann has not been around cats, other dogs or children while with her finder. Pepper- Ann is described as friendly and affectionate with a high activity level. Behavior during intake: Pepper-Ann was very energetic, and friendly. During SAFER Pepper -Ann had a loose body posture when interacting with the assessor; she allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Pepper -Ann was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment. Pepper -Ann was easy to handle when engaged with the items. Pepper -Ann appears to be sociable, and did not display any behavior concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is open for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jump on Assessor once play ends. Squeeze 1:1 Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Pepper Ann was surrender as a stray so her pass behavior with dogs is unknown. When off leash at the care center, Pepper Ann is initially nervous. With further playgroup sessions, Pepper Ann becomes conflicted with play. She solicits play but when the other dog engages, she becomes frustrated and mouthy- barking and grabbing at the other dog’s neck and hind end with her mouth. She is able to engage in high energy play with a female and is tolerant of a male that attempts to mount her. She becomes frustrated when the other dog does not engage in play and begins to growl. The Behavior Department believes that Pepper Ann would be most comfortable as the only dog in the home, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with a potential adopter’s dogs to assess Pepper Ann’s comfort level. 8/17: Pepper Ann approaches the gate nervously. Once the pen door opens, she exchanges sniff with a soft body but ears back and tail slightly tucked, then explores her surroundings. She eventually attempts to solicit gentle play by bouncy near the other dog, but seem conflicted when the other dog reciprocates. 8/20- 8/21: Pepper Ann displays loose and wiggly body language as she interacts with the other dog. When play is not reciprocated, Pepper Ann wanders in the pen but when another dog begins to solicit chase play, she gets frustrated and mouthy- barking and grabbing at the other dog’s neck and hind end with her mouth. 8/23: Pepper Ann continually solicits high energy play with a female dog. She will begin to bark at a dog that barks at her through the gate. She is tolerant of the male dog mounting her. 8/25: Pepper Ann is able to engage in gentle play with a confident female dog. She solicits and engages in play. 8/26: Pepper Ann displays loose and wiggly body language when greeting the other dog. She becomes hyper-motivated, barking at the gate. Once in the pen, she continually solicits play and becomes frustrated when the other dog will not engage in play and begins to growl.
