07/03/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
07/03/16 08:50 BASIC INFO Pepper A1079787 is an approximately 5 year old Poodle Mix. She is being surrendered to the shelter because the owner is a senior and is moving out of the country. A neighbor did the owner the favor to bring Pepper to ACCNYC. They did not know any other info about Pepper, other then its name. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Pepper allowed all handling, collaring and photos.

07/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Peppy Pepper came to the care center as an overgrown ball of black fur. The groomer got his hands on him and transformed Pepper into a show dog!!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw him yesterday, a little black diamond, almost lost in his huge kennel. Pepper is a trooper. He spotted me at his door, came at once, got leashed, and off we went for a walk around the block. He strolls beautifully by my side, does his business in one stop, and meets politely other dogs. Free in a pen, Pepper comes right away when called, hops on the lap and gets petted as he deserves. He is a really friendly and social character and as cute as a button. His eyes sparkle and he owns lovely white teeth. He takes treats delicately from my hand and will even sit for them. Pepper is an elegant miniature Poodle, well made, smartly dressed and most importantly…is a sweetheart. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center. I know he will be a wonderful companion, lively, while loving and well mannered.

07/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Pepper walks calmly on leash. He was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body. He was calm and relaxed during handling. Pepper had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was a bit difficult to push out of the food bowl, but had soft body language. Pepper was not interested in toys. Pepper did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. No interest. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Pepper offers a few sniffs, then roams the yard.
