11/07/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
11/07/16 14:58 Basic Info: Pepe A1096153 is a 7yr old neutered male brown brindle & white AMPBT mix who was born at home and is being surrendered along with his sister Diva A1096154 due to the owner’s apartment being too small and overcrowded. They were both last seen by a veterinarian a few years ago and Pepe currently has no known health issues/injuries. Diva appears to have a small wound on her left hip (unkown cause). Socialization: Around strangers Pepe is friendly/outgoing. He’s lived with a 4 & 5yr olds and was gentle, exuberant, relaxed, playful (he’s a big dog and can be a little rough which causes him to knock them down) with them also the adults in the home & Diva. Pepe has never bitten/scratched any person or animal. According to the owner Diva & Pepe don’t like cats; they’ll bark and or lunge at them. Behavior: Pepe isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture, being brushed or being disturbed while sleeping/resting. For bath time Pepe (& Diva) will sit in the tub. He hasn’t had his nails trimmed. If someone approaches the home/family member Pepe will bark and or jump on the person(s) for attention/affection. For A New Family to Know: Pepe is friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, mellow, excitable & independent with a low-high activity level. The owner likes everything about Pepe and Pepe enjoys sleeping/playing. He enjoys squeaky toys and games of fetch & tug (at times). Pepe is mostly an indoor only dog who sleeps on a dog bed & is walked 2x a day where he pulls lightly on his leash (he’ll whine/bark to let you know he wants/needs to go out). Pepe eats dry Pedigree dog food 2x a day and also human food. When left home alone Pepe is well behaved and housebroken. He understands “sit”, “stay” & “go” in Spanish. Intake Behavior: Pepe had a loose wiggly body and allowed all handling. He allowed to be scanned (+), collared & taken pictures (with assistance from the owner, as I was alone). Pepe then walked alongside us and was lifted into the kennel as he didn’t want to enter on his own which he didn’t seem to mind.

11/10/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Pepe and Diva: two siblings, born at home, are with us as their family’s shrinking tight quarters could not accomodate two large dogs anymore. Both of them are Spanish speaking but could learn any new language. Pepe came right away to his door when he saw me in front of his kennel. He knows what a human is for. Of course, he was a family dog and knows all the ropes that make a great housepet. Pepe is welcoming, his tail is wagging, and his expression is sweet. He is leashed easily. He is quite a handsome dog, neutered, impeccably groomed, healthy looking and well nourished (even a little bit plump). Food was not missing on (or under) the table in his former house. He is a good walker, housetrained without marking, not a pigeon chaser (although his prior human says that he does not like cats) and nears with poise other dogs big or small. Pepe is a respectable family dog who will not answer when provoked, as we were while on a stroll around the block. He likes treats and takes them gently from my hand. He appreciates caresses and will even come in the arms for hugs. Stairs, up and down, are not a problem for him. He enjoys a little ball game and does not mind me taking the tennis ball out of his mouth. Pepe might be a little rotund but he is quite agile and never out of breath. Pepe comes with an excellent curriculum vitae drafted for us by his past owners (who say: we love everything about Pepe) which allows me to award him the prestigious title of “Family Dog”. Indeed, they said he was friendly to strangers, super welcoming to visitors, playful with the kids of the house, free of handling issues or guarding, housetrained, a good boy when left alone in the house and so much more. I could go on and on. Pepe is a gent in the prime of his life who has likely many more years ahead of him to give and receive love. He is an awesome pooch, handsome, lively, sociable, playful and affectionate and will make a warm, loving and loyal companion to a new person or family. Come and meet him soon at the Manhattan Care Center.
