My name is PENELOPE. My Animal ID # is A1100265.
I am a female white and chocolate am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 1 MONTH old.

I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/22/2016 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

12/30/2016 Exam Type RE-EXAM – Medical Rating is 3 C – MAJOR CONDITIONS , Behavior Rating is AVERAGE, Weight 57.0 LBS.

12/30/16 CIRDC noted on rounds S/O: BAR. Attention seeking. Eating with good apeptite. Normal stool EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular discharge, minimal nasal discharge H/L: Coughing, normal RR/RE A: CIRDC P: Rec doxycycline 300mg po q24 x 10 days. Excellent prognosis

KNOWN HISTORY: None Unaltered female, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/24/16 Look: 1. Dog leans forward or jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Summary: Penelope was playful and friendly, she was social towards the assessor. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Penelope was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Penelope solicits and engages in high energy play with male and female dogs. She may continually solicit play, ignoring the other dogs’ body language that they do not wish to engage. The Behavior Department believes that Penelope would be most comfortable in a home with playful resident dogs, however due to the sociability towards other dogs that Penelope has displayed at the Care Center, the Behavior Department believes that Penelope would be comfortable with dogs with various personalities. Penelope was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Penelope solicits and engages in high energy play with male and female dogs. She may continually solicit play, ignoring the other dogs’ body language that they do not wish to engage. The Behavior Department believes that Penelope would be most comfortable in a home with playful resident dogs, however due to the sociability towards other dogs that Penelope has displayed at the Care Center, the Behavior Department believes that Penelope would be comfortable with dogs with various personalities. 12/23: Penelope displays loose and wiggly body language when greeting male and female dogs. She solicits and engages in gentle play, taking appropriate play breaks. She is tolerant of a female dog mounting her and displays soft body language throughout the sessions. 12/27: Penelope displays high energy and rushes towards other dogs to solicit play. She continually solicits play with male and female dogs, ignoring their body language that they do not wish to engage.
